Cover Reveal and A Free Story

I’ve been extremely quiet on my blog but for good reasons.

I’m excited to announce my novella, SHADOW OF THE WICKED is READY FOR PUBLICATION!

All final edits are complete, the cover is complete, reviewers are reviewing and the date has been set for publication. I am extremely excited to share this with you. My writing journey has been not what I expected but I have learnt a lot along the way and hopefully from what I did learn, it shows in the quality of my novella.

If you want to receive an exclusive reveal, or read it for FREE before everyone else, make sure you sign up to my mailing list–before it’s too late!

In the meantime, I am also happy to announce that on the OMAM Publishing website we have three more fantasy stories available to read here on our website.

We are getting closer and closer to having capacity for a new anthology! I’ve got several more stories in my read pile as well, just need the time to get at them. If you’ve submitted to us recently, thank you. If not, what are you waiting for?

First up is a flash fiction piece by yours truly, Douglas W.T. Smith entitled “Into the Forest.”

Read here on the OMAM website or download it onto your Kindle for free!

After a tragedy at home, Jaeden flees into the forest. He hopes to eke out and live off nature alone, but soon comes to question his decision.

While book marketing isn’t easy, there are plenty of opportunities to reach new audiences. Finding the right ones starts with broadening your ideas of where to look.

I have just finished my novella, SHADOW OF THE WICKED. I’ve sent the release date but I realised, how are people going to read my book? How do I get my novella in the hands of readers?

Then I realised; there’s nothing easy about book promotion. I’ve created my author website, but it’s hardly enough. How will I attract readers to visit my site? How will I entice them to buy mybook?

You can’t just rely on a single digital marketing effort.

Here are NINE BOOK MARKETING IDEAS you should consider when promoting your book online.

Bryon Bay Writers Festival 2018

Byron identity-Mono

This weekend I am volunteering for the Byron Bay Writers Festival. I am super excited about being a Liasion and an Usher for the Main Stage (Southern Cross University Marque).

It is an important part of being a writer and communicating with like-minded people; and connecting with editors, authors, journalists etc… and the whole industry.

If anyone is in Australia and the North Coast Region of New South Wales, please come down to the festival and support our way of life.

Friday Reads

Friday reads

Last #fridayreads I finished the second installment to Ian Irvine’s The View from the Mirror series ‘The Tower on the Rift’.

I will be reading books three and four, but not yet instead I moved onto a collections of fantasy short stories, the ‘Basilisk’. The thing I love about a collection of short stories is you can read a short story once a week or month, in no chronological order. However, I have not finished all the short stories but I moved onto a series I have been dying to read, before I finish Ian Irvine’s, is
Martin Middleton’s Chronicles of the Custodians series.
