Friday Reads – Memory, Thorn and Sorrow

I finished the final installment to Martin Middletons Chronicles of the Custodians series.(CotC), The Sphere of Influence.

Onto the next series that influenced George R. R. Martins and shaped Game of Thrones in thirty ways, Tad Williams – Memory, Sorrow and Thorn. 

Teal the Death Lord, hero of Circle of Light and Triad of Darkness, has banished the Dark Gods from his world and secured an uneasy peace in the lands under his dominion. But the cost has been great – the Gods of Light were forced to follow the Gods of Darkness into oblivion.

Teal’s quest to find and destroy the source of darkness leads to a confrontation between good and evil; and reasoning for his destiny.

Throughout the novel, the same issues I faced in the earlier books were evident in the final installment but the twist at the end surprised me. Something I did not expect which made the book complete its plot lines and make sense.

Overall, I rated it three out of five stars.

This week (it might probably take a few more) I am embarking on a series that has been sitting on my bookshelf for a while.

I have read wonderful and exciting reviews on this series. I did some research into Tad Williams and surprisingly,

George R. R. Martin claims, ‘without Tad Williams there would be no Game of Thrones.’
